LUMEN  LETTERS

Ghostly trees in the Wallowa Mountains
“There is something haunting in the light of the moon."

Joseph Conrad
Happy Halloween, my luminous coven!

I'm currently observing my yearly vow of silence on All Hallow's Eve, which I've been practicing for 5 years now. Halloween, or Samhain (sow-wen), is my favorite holiday. My Celtic ancestors viewed this time of year as a rebirth through death, which is why Samhain is lovingly referred to as the witch's new year. So today, I do not speak or write from the time I awaken until slumber settles in my body. This vow of silence allows me to commune with the scared during the time of the year where the veil between this earthly realm and others is believed to be the thinnest. It is a day where I can reflect on the year behind me and practice ritual to honor and connect with my ancestors.

Since I'm not typing today and I didn't want to leave your inbox dark, empty, and not so luminous on this full moon Halloween, I'm writing this letter to you on Friday evening and have a very special treat (with a few tricks) in store...

Drop your broomstick and grab your yoga mat - it's time for a Halloween themed yoga class.

luminous flow : bewitched
