Hey friends,
It's been a couple months since I've landed in your inbox with content and resources to share with you, aside from my Virtual Studio updates and redesign survey (big thanks to those who participated).
Within the big swirl of the world's current social, political, and health climate, I found myself less concerned about "creating content" and more concerned about spending time educating myself, grieving, having challenging conversations, taking action in my circles, observing from a bird's eye view, and keeping a pro-nuance, anti-bullshit approach close to me at all times.
Today, I have two valuable resources to share with you...but first, some housekeeping.

V I R T U A L
Behind the scenes, I'm continuing to develop new and improved virtual offerings, some of which will roll out soon. In the meantime, I'm still booking Virtual Luminosity private sessions, where we can connect via one-on-one live-streaming to address your health and wellness concerns, create a personalized lifestyle design blueprint, and get your body moving in the ways that are optimal for you. If you're curious, let's set up a complimentary video chat consultation to discover the potential for our sessions together.
I N - P E R S O N
In accordance with Multnomah County entering Phase 1, I have resumed seeing clients for in-person sessions, with several protective protocols in place. If you're interested in working with me in-person, either privately or in small group settings, let's set up a complimentary consultation call to discuss your options and the safety measurements I'm taking to keep my clients, and myself safe.
I'm happy to be back in the studio (and the park), teaching group movement classes in-person as well. Join me Friday afternoons from 12pm - 1pm at BodyVox Dance Center for Social Dis-DANCE-ing (live-stream also available). On Sunday mornings from 9:30am - 10:30am you can find me at Sewallcrest Park where I'll be offering a Vinyasa yoga class through NOW Yoga.

And now, for the feature presentations...

This film explores the evolution of our national attitude from pride in big dams as engineering wonders to the growing awareness that our own future is bound to the life and health of wild rivers.

Combining archival footage with testimony from activists and scholars, director Ava DuVernay's examination of the U.S. prison system looks at how the country's history of racial inequality drives the high rate of incarceration in America.

I am HIGHLY RECOMMENDING you to watch BOTH of these documentaries to become a better-educated, compassionate, well-rounded human being who can integrate the valuable information presented and work with it to take action in the ways you feel compelled to do so.
These are not easy watches. You will be confronted with harsh realities that may have never even surfaced your consciousness. You will feel uncomfortable feelings, and if you're anything like me, you will be misty-eyed for most of the viewing experience. You will be encouraged to reflect on your own biases, and how you are personally contributing to both of these damaging systems, perhaps by not doing anything active to refute, reform, or dismantle them. True growth does not come without growing pains.
I have watched both documentaries in the past few weeks, and am more than happy to have follow-up conversations with any of you who choose to experience the growing pains of seeking to be human who walks more consciously in this world. I also have a continually expanding list of resources related to the topics covered in both documentaries. If you're moved to learn more or take action in some way but don't know where to begin, just ask me - I've got your back!

Seek to be brimming over,
with feelings of wonder and grief,
growing pains and ecstatic revelations.
May the full moon's light bestow upon you
blessings of transformation.
Luminous love,
Jessica
